“The iconic MSF Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series is the backbone of every MSF mission.”

MSF-Medicins Sans Frontier is an international non-governmental organisation that helps people worldwide where the need is greatest, delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from health care.

An important part of a successful medical aid delivery process is owed to the simple and dependable Toyota Land Cruiser. MSF has started using them since the beginning of the 1980’s and today they have reached the status of indispensable. Currently these 4x4’s are used in every MSF mission regardless of the country. Land Cruisers can tackle the most challenging terrains. Versatility is their most important asset. Furthermore, these vehicles are not only used for carrying patients to the nearest hospital, but also serve as simple mobile clinics, providing basic treatment, and helping deliver staff and medical equipment to remote areas.

Based on the HZJ78 Land Cruiser model, the MSF ambulances are built in Belgium, specifically in Brussels. From there they are shipped to all 71 countries where MSF has projects. (MSF - “King of the road” article). Currently MSF operates more than 800 of these go-anywhere vehicles across the globe.
